Our First Year

On October 18, Tommy and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary! Can't believe it's been a year already. It has been so fun sharing my life with Tommy and I can't wait for many years together. On Fri Oct 16 we headed out to Hendersonville to celebrate. We stayed in a beautiful bed & breakfast. We went to Pearson Falls, shopping in Hendersonville, visiting small mountain towns, eating junk food, and went to the Biltmore House on Sun. The Biltmore was beautiful and we both said we wish we could have a house like that. For my present he got me 2 tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera on my birthday (Dec 3) in Raleigh and framed my Phantom poster that I got on our honeymoon. I love this musical (this will be my 2nd time seeing on my birthday) so I was dropping hints to Tommy that he should get me this for my birthday. I got Tommy a picture book on Holly Springs. It is so hard shopping for guys. I will get pictures posted this weekend.

Favorite Time of Year

Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love seeing all the leaves change, cuddling in a warm blanket on the couch during the cold nights and drinking hot chocolate, campfires, pumpkins, and houses decorated for Halloween. Nick and I went yesterday to a pumpkin patch where I got some pumpkins, gourds, and mums to decorate my house with. I also can't wait to start going to some haunted houses. Tommy and I have gone to a couple of them since we have been together and they been fun. Of course, I scream everytime something jumps out at us (it does not help when Tommy is behind me pushing me) and Tommy can't help but laugh at me. So I am really looking forward to October and November. I go hog wild with all my fall decorations. Now I wish we had some snow!

Weekend Getaways

Sorry, I have not updated lately. Been out of town alot. 2 weekends ago, Tommy and I went camping at Pilot Mountain. My parents, Lisa, Nick and Lisa's friend, Allen came up on Sat and spend the night too. Had a great time sitting around the campfire watching Tommy cook. That man sure can cook. Everyone loved the steaks that we had on Sat. Nothing like cooking over a campfire. Nick loved it and he told Lisa he wants to do it again.

Then 4 weekends ago, Tommy and I went to the beach for Sat. and Sun. We went to Kure Beach and Southport on Sun. Had a wonderful time just laying out on the beach and looking through the stores at Southport.

It was very nice to getaway and spend some time alone together. Tommy makes every trip so enjoyable. Can't wait until Oct. for our 1st anniversary trip to Hendersonville, NC.

My Chicks are Bigger Girls Now!

My baby chicks are laying eggs now. They are getting so big (sniff sniff). Tommy called me at work to let me know he found a first egg. We have not tried one yet because they are too small. But next month we will be eating them so yum-yum.

Went Back To School

Went back to college yesterday to get my notary public. It was weird being back in the classroom after 8 years but I enjoyed. It was an all day class with a test at the end. Passed the test (whew!) and got my dipolma. Now I have to submit my application to the Sec. of State to get approved and take an oath before the Register of Deeds before I become a notary public.

Stole an Idea

Meredith gave me a great idea when she said that they re-arranged their living room. So that is what we did on Sun. After church, Tommy and I along with my parents went to an antique store in Benson and got a new couch set. I took the sleeper sofa and Mom took the loveseat. We have such great men that moved couches in the very hot heat with their church clothes on. It was very spur of the moment. Then we got home and moved the new couch and Tommy's chair around. The living room looks alot more cozy now.

Happy 4th of July

Hope you had a fun 4th of July. On Fri. we went to our good friends, Mike & Debra Moneypenny, to see some fireworks. My brother, Lane and Mike put on an excellent show. They also had Sunny Sky's cater some good ice cream. This show started 10 years ago with 20 people and now 200 come. On Sat we had our families come for a cook-out. We ate, ate, swam, played badmittion and horseshoes, ate, and ate. Last Sun. we took Tommy's parents to New Bern to see the Tyron Palace and the gardens. The gardens were beautiful. We had a fun time.

Still Here

Sorry it has taken so long to update. Been busy. I have 2 new jobs now. One is watching my nephew Nick once a week. He is so much fun. He wears me out at the end of the day but I guessed I need to get used to it. If you don't know, Tommy and I are trying for a baby and would love your prayers that it will happen soon. My second job is working with my mom 2x a week at the sprinker co. where she works. I started yesterday and today I am by myself so I can get the phones. I am so BORED but the day has gone by fast. The cool part is the bathroom is in the barn so I can get a nice little walk and get to pet some horses. I gave one a apple yesterday. My mom raised horses up in New York so I have been around them all my life. I had an Arab that was quite crazy. She jumped at little things and threw me off quite a bite. So the barn smell brings back some wonderful memories of our farm. Well tell more of that later.

Avon Calling

I have decided to start selling Avon. It will be my own business so I am really excited about getting started. Please let me know if you need anything.

Lost another chick due to Jaco. We put wire all under the cage and that seems to have stopped him from digging. I put in my flower garden on Fri. My mom and I spent all day Fri shopping for the flowers. Had a great time. Tommy got me for Mother's Day from all the "kids" a garden flag. On Tues we put in some of the tomatoes and beans. Still need to do peppers. Garden is looking really good. Can't wait to start eating from it.

What a Week!

Well, last week had its ups and downs. The down was I lost my job with the pediatrics office due to being fasley accused of something. That's OK because God is in control and I know He has something better for me. All the pets and the garden will keep me busy.

The up was The Ladies Retreat at Topsail. Went down Fri and came home Sun. I really needed this and enjoyed every minute. The theme was Shining Your Light. I learned important things about staying focus and letting God be in control. We had a fun time of laughing, playing games late at night, and eating junk food. Can't wait till next year!

The chicks are outside now in their pen that Ken and Tommy made (such wonderful husbands). They are losing their baby feathers and getting huge. I enjoy watching them play and grow. I am so glad God made animals. There is a never dull moment here with 2 dogs, a cat, and 6 chicks.

GEORGIA TRIP

Tommy and I went to Macon, GA on Friday for his step-grandmother's 90th birthday. We rode together with his sisters Angie and Kathy, Kathy's daughters, Heather and Jenna, and Jenna's boyfriend, Ross. It was an interesting 8 hr trip. We watched movies, ate junk, slept, and got gassed out with Angie's "gas problems." Anyways, his grandmother was very nice and didn't look 90. We had the party Sat and came back home Sat night. All in all, we had a very nice time.

Chicks are getting big and the garden is looking good. Onions will be ready next week. YUM!!!!
Looking forward to the Ladies Retreat this weekend.

Green Thumb?

We are starting a new project here. We are putting in a garden with help from Mom and Ken. I loved our garden in NY when I was little and I always wanted one when I became married. I enjoy being outside and weed picking will give me plenty of that. Yesterday Mom brought over manure, she gets it free because the people she works for has horses. The manure smelled good (only if you grew up around it.) Mom raised horses up in NY so I was out every day cleaning stalls. Can you tell I was a tom-boy. Can't wait to start planting! Well let you know how it goes and let us know if you want anything. Also doing a flower garden out front. I really don't have a green thumb so this is going to be fun.

I've been too disappointedtoo many time so I am going to take a break from the job hunt. I enjoy cleaning the house, shopping, and fixing Tommy supper. I've been trying many different recipes. A Pirate's Life For Me

Yesterday, Tommy and I went to the NC History Museum and saw the pirate exhibit there. It was mostly for kids. They had a huge pirate ship so the kids could play on it and other kiddy stuff but they had artifacts from The Queen Anne's Revenge (Blackbeard's ship). They had a cannon that was ready to fire when they found it. Also had plates, cannon balls, glass, and other items. There was a silver-plated skull that supposedly was Blackbeard's that they made into a cup. It was pretty neat. We had a good time. It was nice getting out of the house.
Update on job search: My mom got a job for a sprinkler company outside if Benson part time and I will be working with her. I am working part time too to see if I like this job or if another job opens up.

Please continue to pray that something will turn up.

A Rainey Day

I love a rainey day! Just curled up on the couch, watching movies all day, I love it! Nothing new has happened so far. Tommy is gone to camp of instruction this weekend. I just put out my Easter decorations. I know it is early for Easter but every March I put them out. Bunnies and eggs just remind me of spring.

Superbowl Party

Had an awesome time Sunday night at our superbowl party. We went to Katie and Justin's house for some food, dancing, and fun. I wanted the Cardinals to win but it was a good game anyways. During the half-time, a bunch of us danced to Dance Dance Revolution. I found out I can't dance and look for arrows at the same time. But I enjoyed it. Still looking for a job. So please pray that something will come soon.

The Family

Well, here is my new post. A lot has happened since the last post. Tommy and I had a wonderful wedding and awesome honeymoon in Charleston, SC. I am having fun playing wife and "mother" to 3 crazy pets. Jackson, my beagle, is now 1 yr old and is so fat he looks like a pot-bellied pig. I lost my job 2 weeks ago so I am taking care of the house. Cleaning, cooking, and sleeping late. Today I put up our bird-feeder in the front lawn, so now I can go sit on the porch and watch the birds eat and maybe squirrels. Our house is an old farmhouse in the middle of a field. It was build in the early 1900s and is quite lovely. We have beautiful views of fields, cows, woods, and another old farmhouse. We are hoping to buy it and a least 10 acres so we can have horses and goats. Well I am going to go so I can watch American Idol!
